Abstract
Les Fêtes de l'Hymen et de l'Amour (libretto of Cahusac) was premiered on 15 March 1747 on the occasion of the second marriage of the dauphin to Marie-Josèphe de Saxe. For the first time in the history of Baroque opera, the libretto explores the world of Egyptian mythology with a prologue and three acts : Osiris, Canope and Auréris. Served by a libretto tailored for spectacular supernatural scenes, Rameau produced a very original score.
