Juan Ruiz Jimnez obtained his Ph.D. from Granada University in 1995. His research and publications focus mainly on sacred and instrumental music in early modern Spain, and he recently published a book entitled La Librera de Canto de rgano. Creacin y pervivencia del repertorio del Renacimiento en la catedral de Sevilla. He is currently working on different aspects of urban music in the city of Seville and preparing a substantial study of the impact of musical endowments in the development of ritual, musical forces and creation of repertory there.
