<sec><title>AUTHORS OF ARTICLES IN THIS ISSUE</title>

<p><sc>mark berry</sc>
 is a British Academy Post-doctoral Fellow and Fellow of Peterhouse, Cambridge. He has written on musical, cultural, and intellectual history from the late seventeenth century onwards, and has been awarded the Prince Consort Prize and Seeley Medal. He is the author of <italic>Treacherous Bonds and Laughing Fire: Politics and Religion in Wagner's ‘Ring’</italic>
 (Ashgate, 2006).</p>

<p><sc>marcia j. citron</sc>
 is Lovett Distinguished Service Professor of Musicology at Rice University. Her publications on opera and film include <italic>Opera on Screen</italic>
 (Yale University Press, 2000) and recent articles on Coppola's <italic>Godfather</italic>
 trilogy (<italic>Musical Quarterly</italic>
) and Ponnelle's opera films (<italic>Journal of Musicology</italic>
). Since the award-winning study <italic>Gender and the Musical Canon</italic>
 (repr. University of Illinois Press, 2000), she has explored third-wave feminism and classical music (journal <italic>Women and Music</italic>
) and the gendered reception of the music of Brahms (<italic>Men Sounding Off</italic>
, ed. Ian Biddle and Kirsten Gibson).</p>

<p><sc>roger savage</sc>
 retired in 2001 from teaching in the English Literature Department of Edinburgh University, where he is now an Honorary Fellow. He has published three previous essays on Vaughan Williams, and also pieces on the staging of courtly shows <italic>c</italic>
.1600, the history of opera production, English Augustan classicism, theatre works by Purcell, Rameau, and Stravinsky, the letters of Metastasio, and BBC radio drama.</p>

<p><sc>regula hohl trillini</sc>
, who trained as a pianist, is a teacher and researcher at the English Department of the University of Basle, where she is currently editor of the HyperHamlet database (<<ext-link ext-link-type="uri" xlink:href="www.hyperhamlet.unibas.ch">www.hyperhamlet.unibas.ch</ext-link>
>). Her book <italic>The Gaze of the Listener: English Representations of Domestic Music-Making</italic>
 is scheduled for publication with Rodopi (Amsterdam).</p>

<sec><title>RECIPIENTS OF ‘MUSIC & LETTERS’ AWARDS</title>

<p>The Editorial Board has made grants to the following towards costs in connection with the projects indicated: Stephen Banfield towards the cost of the conference in Bristol on the Wesleys in July 2007; David Code towards travel costs for the Zurich IMS Congress in July 2007, where he gave a paper on Debussy; Caroline Landau towards the cost of attending two ethnomusicogical conferences, BFE at Newcastle University in April 2007, and ICTM at Vienna in July 2007; Neta Spiro to attend the ICOMCS conference in Sydney, Australia to deliver a paper on performance analysis, and to assist her work on the CHARM project; Ingrid Sykes towards the cost of publication of a monograph on ‘Women, Science and Sound in Nineteenth-Century France’; Bryan White to deliver a paper at the ‘London in Text and History’ conference at Oxford in September 2007; Alexandra Wilson to speak at the American Musicological Society meeting in November 2007.</p>
