<meta-value> the changing scene Karen Fanta Zumbrunn has been promoted to the position of associate professor of music at Bergen Community College, Paramus, New Jersey. In addition to her teaching activities, Zumbrunn serves as MENC's student chapter adviser for the college. Kent State University. Ralph Ver-rastro, formerly professor of music and director of graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, has been named director of the school of music at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. He replaced acting director James Waters, who returned to teaching in the theory and composition department. Emily McKnight has joined the faculty as assistant professor of voice. She previously taught at the Oberlin Conservatory, Oberlin, Ohio. Stanley Schleuter, a former faculty member at State University of New York College at Buffalo, has succeeded Melvin Piatt as coordinator of the music education department. Piatt has accepted a position on the music education staff of the University of Oklahoma. Terry Kuhn, formerly associated with the University of Maryland, College Park, has been appointed associate professor of music education. Irving M. Brown is now dean of the school of performing arts at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. Formerly dean of the faculty of fine and performing arts at the State University of New York College at New Paltz, Brown will supervise a professional and academic program of music, dance, and theatre. Elizabeth P. Brown, president of the New York State School Music Association, has been named acting supervisor of student teaching and music admissions at Ithaca College, Ithaca, New York. Prior to accepting the position at Ithaca, Brown taught in the music program of the public schools in Springville, New York, for twenty years. Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, has announced three new faculty appointments in its school of music. Robert A. Harris has been named professor of conducting and director of choral organizations. Myron Kartman is now professor of violin. In June 1978, Bennett Reimer will become John W. Beattie professor of music education and chairman of the music education department. Ernest (Ernie) Wilkins has become chairman of the Afro-American music department of the New England Conservatory, Boston.
