Abstract

Abstract: A rationale for the use of Jungian movement therapy with psychosomatic disorders is presented. Assumptions concerning body-mind interrelationship, the flow of energy, and somatic predispositions supply a foundation for this form of therapy. The use of the Jungian technique of active imagination through authentic movement-in-depth affords an avenue through which information from the clients’ unconscious can communicate the process and direction of therapy. This process is phenomenologically explained and demonstrated through a case study of a woman with a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis.
