<note>Elizabeth Polk was a founding and charter member of the ADTA. She began her dance studies and career in Europe and, like some of the other early pioneers, developed her dance therapy work and methods when she came to the United States. Ms. Polk has long been known for her unique work with children and with the deaf. Her story parallels the story of dance therapy during the past half-century.This interview was completed just before the death of Jane Ederer-Schwartz in May of 1990. Her relationship with Ms. Polk was a longstanding one, as Ms. Polk has always been an active member of the New York ADTA chapter of which Ms. Ederer-Schwartz was President from 1985–1989.</note>
