Abstract

Abstract: Licensed historians do not write much on contemporary history of mathematics. Yet, more and more mathematicians are interested in the history of their discipline, namely in the history of the mathematics they do every day. This book is written for them. This does not prevent it from being written with the intellectual rigour one can expect from a historian as from a mathematician.
