He is the author of Social Change in the Southwest, 1350‐1880 (University Press of Kansas), and coauthor with Christopher Chase‐Dunn of Rise and Demise: Comparing World‐Systems (Westview). He continues to study, teach, and write about Native Americans, frontiers, nomad societies, ethnicity, and precapitalist world‐systems. He is currently working on Social Change: The Long‐Term View from Sociology and Anthropology (Westview) with Stephen K. Sanderson and Darrell La Lone.
