Abstract
A data integration system required for agricultural decision support software has been analysed, and a model proposed using message passing with an intelligent kernel in a multi-tasking operating system. A trial system has been built using information storage and decision support programs suitable for dairy farms. These include a herd records database, a field events database, a ration formulation program and a grassland utilisation planning program.
