Abstract

Author's Summary— Many aspects of the prosecution of the war present opportunities for individuals possessing a working knowledge of modern foreign languages to make a vital contribution to the war effort. Experience shows, however, that students trained in American colleges and universities have not received the realistic and practical knowledge of foreign languages urgently needed.
