Abstract
Abstract: Some typical relationships between experimental and theoretical studies of Rayleigh—Bénard convection and convection phenomena observed in geophysical and astrophysical systems are discussed. Because of the vast range of the subject only a few examples are described in a qualitative manner. Convection in planetary cores and its dynamo action receives special attention.
