Abstract
In the department of Seine-Maritime, in Northern France, muddy floods are flow phenomena widely observed causing property and sometimes dramatic human damages. Such type of floods remains still seldom analysed in this region because they present complex and single features, especially occurring on dry valleys where no permanent stream flows exist. This complexity is both due to hydrologic and morphological structures, and also to infraand inter- annual changes on land covers fluctuating with cropping practices. In this study, we propose to coupling with GIS the use of a Geographical Cellular Automata (RuiCells) for assessing the morphological behaviour of 4 studied catchments and creating diagnosis of erosion sensibility. Dynamic simulations of runoff waters and flow pathways also provide a mediation tool between farmers and scientifics in order to change practices for reducing soil erosion and runoff production in these small areas.

Such type of floods remains still seldom analysed in this region because they present complex and single features, especially occurring on dry valleys where no permanent stream flows exist. This complexity is both due to hydrologic and morphological structures, and also to infraand inter- annual changes on land covers fluctuating with cropping practices. In this study, we propose to coupling with GIS the use of a Geographical Cellular Automata (RuiCells) for assessing the morphological behaviour of 4 studied catchments and creating diagnosis of erosion sensibility. Dynamic simulations of runoff waters and flow pathways also provide a mediation tool between farmers and scientifics in order to change practices for reducing soil erosion and runoff production in these small areas.</abstract><abstract xml:lang="fr">En Seine-Maritime, le ruissellement érosif pose d'importants problèmes : source de pollution de la ressource en eau, il est également à l'origine d'événements chroniques, parfois catastrophiques, d'inondations par crue turbide. Ces phénomènes sont complexes et difficiles à quantifier : une complexité liée autant aux structures hydromorphologiques en place qu'à la variabilité infra- et interannuelle des couverts agricoles. En complément du SIG, l'utilisation d'un outil de modélisation à base d'automate cellulaire a permis d'apprécier plus finement le comportement des bassins et d'établir un diagnostic des sensibilités au ruissellement pour les espaces considérés. Au-delà de sa fonction de modélisation, cet outil est venu appuyer le « dialogue » et la concertation dans le cadre d'une recherche visant à modifier les pratiques individuelles des exploitants agricoles.</abstract></profileDesc></hal></record>Pour manipuler ce document sous Unix (Dilib)
