Abstract
This article is proposing first a review of ongoing researches in Enterprise Interoperability. Then, it focuses on the Federation oriented Enterprise Interoperability concept, by means of the rising notion of Short-Lived Ontology. A recall on distributed simulation, HLA standard and short lived ontology exposes their pertinent combination to support execution of the studied concept. Indeed, on the one hand Ontology fits properly the concept of "online" information interoperability matching in a federated enterprise interoperability approach. On the other hand, the HLA standard, initially designed for distributed M&S purpose, can be transposed for enterprise interoperability at the implementation level, reusing the years of experiences in distributed systems. From these postulates, we propose the first short-lived ontology based Agent/HLA framework to implement distributed enterprise information systems. Finally, a comparison study between some enterprise interoperability software solutions and the one introduced in this article is proposed. From this comparison, limitations are identified and opportunities are given.

<EA>This article is proposing first a review of ongoing researches in Enterprise Interoperability. Then, it focuses on the Federation oriented Enterprise Interoperability concept, by means of the rising notion of Short-Lived Ontology.
