Abstract
The ultra high level language OBJ has a declarative and inherently concurrent semantics that is based upon equational logic. Operationally, this means that concurrent term rewriting is a natural model of computation that links OBJ to massively parallel architectures like our Rewrite Rule Machine. This paper summarizes the basic concepts of OBJ and its concurrent term rewriting model of computation, using a simple example.
