Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present a method to specify an industrial control application based on MMS (Manufacturing Message Specifications). The proposed method is used at the specification stage of the development process, and it consists of the identification of services provided by each abstraction level of a hierarchical structure. The advantages of this approach are, first to simplify the application analysis, then to allow validation activity as soon as it is possible in the system life cycle. We illustrate these concepts with an example.
