Abstract
Open Source suppor t, coherent joint software development and packaging is a ver y im- por tant initiative for ensuring strong integration, network sur vivability and transfer of tech- nology developed within the network. In the management community, many Open Source components have been produced over the years, some of them being widely used to- day for several pur poses. Recent evolutions in management and networking technologies however did slow the use of these ver y valuable software components and the rhythm of new productions has decreased drastically. From the ver y beginning, EMANICS par tners did recognize the need to suppor t the Open Source initiatives in the area of management to foster their use and acceptance on large scale. In June 2007, two calls have been issued to the EMANICS community: one for software development and one for Open Source software packaging. Four initiatives have been selected in the first call : SMIng suppor t in LibSMI, P2PFastSS, ISMS implementation and VoIPbots. Two proposals have been selected in the packaging par t: Open Diameter pack- aging and NDPMon distribution standardization and integration in standard distributions. In addition, the work on Management software categorisation, annotation and referencing did continue. This repor t provides the details of the two calls that have been issued since June 2007 and for ever y selected project, a detailed description of the software package together with the achievements made so far are presented. The work on the software inventor y database is also repor ted in this document. A revised version of this document is expected to be provided at the end of phase 2 of EMANICS in December 2008.

Peric</name></author></analytic></biblStruct></sourceDesc></fileDesc><profileDesc><textClass></textClass></profileDesc></teiHeader><front><div type="abstract" xml:lang="en">Open Source suppor t, coherent joint software development and packaging is a ver y im- por tant initiative for ensuring strong integration, network sur vivability and transfer of tech- nology developed within the network. In the management community, many Open Source components have been produced over the years, some of them being widely used to- day for several pur poses. Recent evolutions in management and networking technologies however did slow the use of these ver y valuable software components and the rhythm of new productions has decreased drastically. From the ver y beginning, EMANICS par tners did recognize the need to suppor t the Open Source initiatives in the area of management to foster their use and acceptance on large scale. In June 2007, two calls have been issued to the EMANICS community: one for software development and one for Open Source software packaging. Four initiatives have been selected in the first call : SMIng suppor t in LibSMI, P2PFastSS, ISMS implementation and VoIPbots. Two proposals have been selected in the packaging par t: Open Diameter pack- aging and NDPMon distribution standardization and integration in standard distributions. In addition, the work on Management software categorisation, annotation and referencing did continue. This repor t provides the details of the two calls that have been issued since June 2007 and for ever y selected project, a detailed description of the software package together with the achievements made so far are presented. The work on the software inventor y database is also repor ted in this document.
