Munich 70, Federal Republick of Gennany Following the IFLA Section on Interlending's recommendations for international lending' , and supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemcinschaft, a Clearing-house for International Lending Requests has been established at the Staatsbibliothek Preuf~ischer Kulturbesitz, Postfach 1407, D-1000 Berlin 30, for the Federal Republic of Gennany including Berlin. This Clearing-house either supplies the original or photocopy directly from the resources of the Staatsbibliothek or it translnits the requests to one of the libraries in the Federal Republic where the requested literature can be expected to be found. The requesting library from abroad, however, is advised to request - journals, for which locations can be derived from published lists - other material, which can be attributed to a distinct subject area directly from the holding library or from the library competent for the particular subject area in the Federal Republic or in West Berlin. The libraries are also advised to direct their requests preferably to libraries or union catalogues with which they have a traditional cooperation. The Clearing-house at the Staatsbibliothek is devised as an additional service whenever the aforementioned direct requests are either not possible or just not known. The requesting libraries and national centres are asked to verify the bibliographic accuracy of the requests and give the source of reference where possible, according to paragraph 2.2. of the Section's Guiclelines. The Clearing-house, as well as the other German libraries, will take particular care of the supply of German imprints (cf. paragraph 1 of the Principles). The supply of foreign items can only be expected for requests with sufficiently accurate bibliographic descriptions.
