Abstract
In order to clarify the role of psychology in goal determination, findings and positions concerning the variance and relevance of therapeutic goals are discussed from an descriptive empirical perspective. In a second step it is argued that the model of goal negotiations is appropriate for the determination of therapeutic goals, and, at the same time, takes into account the problems of legitimation.
