Abstract
This survey is an introduction to the subject and also to the advances made in research in the last 25 years. It considers the rich and various primary sources that have been made available over the period. It then examines the archaeological footprint of the Jews of Medieval England. It sets out the progress that has been made whilst trying to answer the major key questions about the community. An examination of Jewish–Christian relations, Jew hatred and violence, religious disputations between Jew and Christian and Conversion is also made. A further section considers the Jews as businessmen and particularly highlights female as well as male money lenders and their business practice. Finally it supplies a comprehensive bibliography of work on this topic.
