Abstract

The proton n.m.r. spectra of [(CH3)3C]2P[M(CH3)3]NSi(C2H5)3 compounds give evidence for a restricted rotation about the SiP bond of 2a (MSi). Reaction of RR′P‐NLi‐M′(CH3)3 (R(CH3)3C, R′CH3; M′Si, Ge) with (CH3)3MCl (MSi, Ge, Sn) or (CH3)2MCl (MAs, Sb) leads to the formation of the phosphazanes 4 and 6 as well as the phosphazenes 5. The sulfur oxidation product of RR′PN[Si(CH3)3]2 (R(CH3)3C, R′CH3) possesses the amine isomeric form 7, whereas the analogous oxygen compound forms the imine form 9.
