Abstract
Introduction: Epidermal–dermal interactions play an important role in regulation of proliferation and differentiation of keratinocytes and also in disease and regeneration of skin. A double paracrine regulation of keratinocyte growth and differentiation has been postulated and described in vitro recently. Interleukin‐1 (Il‐1) and keratinocyte growth factor (KGF/FGF‐7) and their receptors are major mediators in this epidermal‐dermal signalling.
