Abstract
Cet article a pour but d'établir une typologie des grottes de la vallée du Nil, au niveau du Gouvernorat d'Assiout, en Moyenne Egypte, et de comprendre leur intérêt en termes de logiques d'implantation des sépultures de l'époque dynastique. Mise en évidence de 3 types : les grottes d'origine karstique, celles ayant été creusées pour y abriter des tombes de l'époque dynastique et enfin les carrières d'extraction de matériaux. Ces différentes sortes de cavités reflètent des usages distincts au cours des derniers siècles et sont un témoignage des relations Homme/milieu en Moyenne Egypte
