Abstract

The determination of operational dimensions and tolerances is one of the key points in CAPP systems used in precision manufacturing. This paper deals with methods and algorithms for the precise calculation of operational dimensions and tolerances for each operation of process plans generated by CAPP systems. Using dimensional chains and graphical method, this CAPP module can properly determine operational dimensions and tolerances and check the correctness and completeness of part design dimensions input and operational dimensions and tolerances predetermined and find out problems for which the generated process plans must be modified. The work is to be considered as one of the important steps for the development of more advanced CWP systems.
