Soils of Urban, Industrial, Traffic, Mining and Military Areas (SUITMA) is an international group dedicated to the scientific research on Soils of Urban, Industrial, Traffic, Mining and Military Areas. It was created in 1998 during the IUSS (International Union of Soil Science) Congress held in Montpellier (France), thanks to the initiative of Prof. Wolfgang Burghardt.
It is also the name of a series of symposia held, every other year, by this workgroup :
- SUITMA 2000 Essen, in Essen (Germany)
- SUITMA 2003 Nancy, in Nancy (France)
- SUITMA 2005 Cairo, in Cairo (Egypt)
